"the painting war to achieve free energy"
Adventure Festival
September 8th – 24th, 2006
The Center for Independent Artists held a Labor Room which featured artists painting live for 15 hours. The visual results of the “Labor Room” weekend were hung on display in the gallery in September 2006. The collaborative works were sold at this show and remain together in the collection of David Jergenson.
Matthew Semke and William Hessian featured their fourth large scale painting collaboration. Recent collaborations include “Din Din for Two” still lifes, “Woman, baby, cat, bike”, and “Round Two” self portraits. Collaborations involve a set number of rules, while each artist solves similar problems on separate canvases.
The fourth installment featured each artist's design for free energy, revealed in large scale paintings. The concepts were based on a series of sketches and research done by each artist. As the energy crisis grows; we need answers.
